I have family members who are into things that go against my values. We were all brought up with these values but I struggle with understanding how they no longer live by these values nor does it seem to bother them. I really appreciate your article and will do my best to try and accept the things I cannot change.

Thank you so much. The bit about not resenting this time in my life and using it as a stepping stone, resonates with me. I went back to grad school at with mostly 28-32 year olds. That has created some challenges- but the worst part is the teachers who treat us like children in a graduate program. I cannot change their attitude, but I can change my reaction- and find a silver lining. Like this is teaching me to not take everything so personally, and to accept rather than fight my circumstances. Best to you in your new writing career! Loved the examples. “I may have to write after work, but I can do it in the comfort of my own home with a glass of wine.”

Hi, I have to live in the same house as my wifes adult kids from a previous marriage.
She dotes on them, making food whenever they want, and I have lost a lot of privacy, and part of my identity. I feel “second Class”.
I have tried discussing it with her, but “Its my Kids” is thrown in my face , and I now accept that I can’t change this. I was brought up very different, and not mollycoddled like these two kids.
I despise laziness, but have now accepted the crappy situation.Thanks!!
