Thank you for the clarifying! With those examples you provided, it is much clear to me now!

Regarding to another blog, I found out that diary may be related to a more general sense to log personal daily events or experiences, in contrast, journal may be related to a more specific sense of logging such as personal log of dream from daily life. Using the terms of diary or journal, I, in personally, seem to regard how specific that I want to log from daily life.

Do both diary and journal have the same writing format? Do you also use the time signals to write a journal as we do in diary?

From what you have described here, it seems that a diary is an explicitly personal documentation of various subject matter, where a journal is more about a singular topic intended for the broader public. So a “dream journal” would be appropriate, where multiple topics would be more logically defined as a “diary”.
